Petworth art project prove a hit

A ‘MAKE Space’ art project was launched at the new Herbert Shiner community centre in Petworth in time for the first two weeks of the summer holidays.

Young people enjoyed a couple of hours of collage and drawing, with cupcakes and drinks and even a gift bag of collage goodies to take home.

It is the brainchild of Naomi Welch and Jo Johnson, who both live in Petworth and began Make Space as a way of bringing people together to ‘meet and make’.

Make Space is currently planning an after-school art club, all-age collage day and fireside rag rugging workshop for this autumn and has many more plans for next year, including the idea of drama, music and other expressive arts.

Naomi and Jo are also looking for anyone with creative skills they would like to pass on to get in touch.

For more information about future events, look at or search for Make Space on Facebook.
