Petworth youngster’s starring role on TV

YOUNG Alfie Coulson was planning to spend an evening in front of the television at home in Petworth last night with his parents Geoff Coulson and Nicola Thomas.

But there was a special reason – it was the first day’s showing of the new Halfords’ advert and Alfie, nine, has his first-ever starring role.

He has been with the Centre Stage Academy theatre school based in Midhurst for some three years where he recently shone in the demanding London Academy of Dramatic Art exams and was thrilled to be called to London for an audition through the Midhurst theatre school’s agency.

“I had to act scared and scream and then I had to run. They said I was good and then I got a recall – my first ever.”

He was called to the shooting of the advert last month where mum has bought camping equipment and wants dad and the kids to get in the car for the trip. But the only way the couch potatoes can be coaxed off the sofa is with a rather realistic-looking crocodile.
