NOT even the wind could keep people away from Petworth’s annual Christmas Tree lights switch-on evening.
The market square was packed as Lord Egremont and his grandchildren switched on the lights of the Christmas Tree.
Highlights of this year’s extravaganza were a Christmas market, a lantern procession and ‘Live Nativity’ featuring Mr Darcy the donkey. Petworth Film House ran ‘Frozen’ for youngsters waiting for Santa in his grotto, courtesy of the Scouts.
Music filled the air throughout the day thanks to local choirs and talented young soloists, a steel band, Petworth Town Band as they made a tour of the town and Seaford College Jazz Band who brought the evening to a triumphant close.
