ALL horses great and small could be found in Petworth over the weekend.
Rupert Uloth, deputy editor of Country Life magazine, cut the tail bandage to declare new shop, The Vintage Tack Room, officially open.
“This marvellous shop, with its wide range of new and vintage clothes and gifts, is perfect for Petworth, and we know it will do very well,” said Rupert, from Iping, who was there with his wife, Lady Louisa, and children Nonie, Honor and Rufus.
The Vintage Tack Room, owned by Mia Woodford from Heyshott, sells British riding and country wear. Vintage goods also come into the shop every week.
Guests at the opening, which also featured a tiny pony in the window display, included MFH Robin Muir, Paul Lyon-Maris, who has just stepped down as Master of the Chiddingfold, Leconfield and Cowdray Hunt, MP Nick Herbert and the actress Perdita Weeks from The Tudors.
The launch gave onlookers in the town a treat as professional riders, polo players and members of the Cowdray Polo Club rode stunning cobs, ponies and hunt horses through the streets of Petworth.
The Vintage Tack Room is open Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4pm. See www.vintagetackroom.com
