MIDHURST’S Market Square was transformed into a piazza over the weekend.
The ancient square was bustling with life as Italian traders sold their wares to the crowds.
Rural towns coordinator at Chichester District Council, Melanie Burgoyne, said the market highlighted ‘how perfect a setting the Market Square can be’.
“The Italian team charmed their customers and were extremely knowledgeable about their products; recipe suggestions were regularly given and there was plenty of delicious fare on offer,” added Melanie.
“We had also organised for an accordion player to accompany the market with music which added to the ambience, particularly as he was keen to serenade young and old alike!”
Midhurst Town Councillor John Etherington said: “It was a lovely day for it – it was buzzing with lots of people.
“And it was nice to see people stopping and buying rather than just stopping and looking.”
