Plant sale reveals support for farm shop

A PLANT sale at Middle Barn Farm sold out rapidly in a show of support for the recently destroyed farm shop.

Farm owners Roger Verity and Julie Naylor cleared stock following a fire three weeks ago which destroyed the popular farm shop and an adjoining barn, burning 30-40,000 of equipment and 180 bales of hay.

Julie said: "Some of the customers didn't come for the sale they just came to say hello and see how we were."

She said they had begun to clear out and sort the wreckage, but that it was a "mammoth task" which would inevitably take some time.

A joint statement from the couple is printed below:

"We would be most grateful if you could print our personal thanks to the Fire Brigade who worked so hard to contain the fire at Middle Barn Farm and prevent further loss. Also, to family, friends and customers for all the letters, visits, phone calls, cards and messages of support we have received since the fire, we cannot say how much they are appreciated.

"We would like to re-build the barn and shop; as we will have to apply for planning permission it is still early days.

"Once again, many thanks to everyone."
