Police appeal for witnesses after A29 Bury Hill crash


SUSSEX Police is appealing for witnesses to a two-vehicle collision which occurred on the A29 at Bury Hill, near Arundel, just after 8.30am today (October 1)

It involved a black Land Rover Discovery 4x4 and a blue Mazda hatchback car, travelling in opposite directions.

A woman driving the Land Rover suffered minor injuries but a woman at the wheel of the Mazda was trapped and suffered serious leg and pelvic injuries.

She was freed and treated at the scene before being flown to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, London by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance.

The collision occurred just south of Turners Garage and the A29 was closed in both directions while emergency services were at the scene. It was not expected to re-open until 12.15pm at the earliest.

Sergeant Anthony Crisp, of the Sussex Road Policing Unit, Arundel, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who saw either of the vehicles involved being driven prior to the collision.”
