Police quiz teens over fight set up on internet

THREE teenagers who organised a mass fight between rival school pupils over the internet and by text message have been spoken to by police.

As reported in the Express last week, police foiled the fight, planned to take place in Telscombe Cliffs on January 18, after they were told about it by members of the community.

They stopped and searched the youngsters and confiscated a cricket bat being carried as a weapon as well as a large amount of alcohol.

The youngsters were thought to be from Peacehaven Community College and Longhill School, Rottingdean.

Both schools have since worked together with police to find out how it was organised and to stop it happening again.

The three who arranged the fight have been identified and interviewed.

They have been warned about what they did and of the consequences should a fight have actually taken place.

Police said the information about the fight was passed by word of mouth, text message or the Bebo website.

Sergeant Robin Fuller, of Peacehaven Police, said: 'While some youths from both Peacehaven Community School and Longhill School were involved, neither school was responsible or constructive in the arrangement of the fight, and certainly would not condone any such action by any of their pupils.

'Peacehaven Community school is an integral part of the community and over the last few years has built excellent bridges with all sections of the community.'
