Pothole Watch - These are the worst potholes in Chichester
As part of the Observer Pothole Watch campaign, this newspaper has been urging its readers to make their voices heard and to inform the council about damaged and potholed roads.
Dozens of Observer readers have been having their say about the worst potholes in the area. Commenting on our Facebook page, Steve Charles wrote: “Terminus Road is becoming dangerous and it won’t be long till somebody is seriously hurt. There are numerous potholes some of which are deep. The amount of cyclists I see nearly coming off or cars swerving out the way. The whole road needs to be redone. So many repaired potholes last a few weeks till they reappear.” Deborah Sanders said there are two potholes in Church Road in East Wittering. She wrote: “Horrendous hole in middle of road and large one on the side. My friend almost wrote her car off thinking it was just a puddle.” Crash Smith said all the back roads around Chichester ‘need doing’.He added: “Near the free school heading out of Chichester is very bad and to Runcton thay are next to impossible to see when it rains as there are no street lights.” Other hotspots included Legion Way, Bracklesham; Manor Road, Selsey, and Summerfield Road, West Wittering. People can report a pothole or other damage on the road to West Sussex County Council via the Love West Sussex app. Alternatively potholes can be reported to the highways team on the county council’s website at www.westsussex.gov.uk.
