Profitable Rotary store in Rustington to close

A LAST-minute rush to drum up the final slithers of cash is on for a profitable charity shop in Rustington which is due to shut up shop next month.

For almost five years the Littlehampton Rotary Club has run its fundraising store in Ash Lane, generating a staggering £200,000 for good causes.

But the club this week announced that it would be closing the premises on November 8.

Former club president Bill Paine expressed his thanks to Corals bookmakers for allowing the shop to run at the site since February, 2010.

Praising the community’s backing, Bill said: “The support of the local Rustington and Littlehampton residents has been fantastic, both in donating large quantities of goods for us to sell, but also in regularly visiting the shop to buy the quality goods available.”

The store is expected to be taken over by an estate agents.

The group is now appealing for people to continue supporting it as the Rotary seeks to sell all the donated items in the shop before its closure date. The store has plenty of Christmas gifts in stock.
