Pupils lend a hand for creation of Rose Green community garden

A small section of path near the garden’s entrance is decorated with the hands of the 12 eco-warriors from Rose Green Infant School who helped transform the space in Halnaker Gardens into a Diamond Jubilee Garden.

Headteacher, Julie Holloway, said: “The eco-warriors and other pupils at the school have all worked very hard to make the garden such a lovely place.

“They have all enjoyed themselves and we were glad to be asked to help in such a good community project.”

But the youngsters’ involvement will not end with the completion of the project.

“The school will continue to be involved with the garden. We hope the pupils will come and help out with the weeding and looking after the garden.

“Along with their parents and grandparents the children will also continue to visit the garden,” added Mrs Holloway.

The school’s autumn collection will also go towards buying more plants for the garden. It was the idea of Willowhale Farm Residents’ Association and landowner, the Places for People social housing group.
