A FORMER racing driver from Midhurst has been ordered to hand over his fledgling company’s web address after losing a legal wrangle with Goodwood.
Jason Weller, 44, set up Gentleman’s Real Racing Company Ltd earlier this year to organise events for rich car fans at race circuits abroad.
But Dr Russell Richardson of web watchdog Nominet has found the address he chose – grrc.co.uk – bore a striking similarity to the trademark of the Goodwood Road Racing Club.
He said its use by Mr Weller had taken ‘at least unfair advantage’ of Goodwood Road Racing Club’s rights.
Dr Richardson ordered the domain name to be transferred to Goodwood’s owner – the Goodwood Estate Company Limited.
