The force has given £500 to the Options Pregnancy Crisis Centre, an organisation that offers confidential support and information for women and men dealing with unwanted pregnancies or miscarriages.

Centre manager Ali Thompson said: “We are delighted to have received this donation as this will mean we can continue our work with young people and enable us to support teenagers by helping them to build knowledge and self confidence.”

The money will help deliver ten educational sessions covering issues including consent to sexual activity, the potential consequences of alcohol and drugs in relation to sexual activity, and the rights and boundaries in a relationship for both parties.

Chichester and Arun District Commander Justin Burtenshaw said: “I am particularly encouraged to hear that a strong emphasis is being placed on relationship education and awareness.

“Creating a safe environment to talk about relationships, boundaries and the rights of an individual is an environment that Sussex Police will always be supportive of.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
