Reward offered relating to vandalism of Staplefield Common

CUCKFIELD Rural Parish Council, together with Staplefield Cricket Club, has offered a reward of £200 for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons who vandalised Staplefield Common on the night of Wednesday January 30.

One or possibly more vehicles were driven over the entire area of the common and cricket square. With the ground being very soft due to the current high water table, extensive damage was done by tyre marks.

Pete Bradbury, Chairman of CRPC and also of Staplefield CC said "Although the damage is extensive and unsightly, I'd like to reassure everybody that we will have the common fit for the start of the cricket season in April. We certainly won't let a thing like this stop us and the other clubs that use the common from playing cricket. "
