Ricardo engines fuel speed record

CONSTRUCTION vehicle giant JCB has smashed the land speed record for a diesel powered car, with speeds in excess of 350mph.

The JCB Dieselmax broke the existing record and then its own record, reaching a top speed of 350.092mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats, in Utah, USA, last week.

The car was powered by engines developed with engineers from Ricardo, based at Shoreham Airport, where a display model was on show in May.
