An adventure of a lifetime is beginning for a young rider and her horse, hundreds of miles away in the very north of Scotland.

After months of training from their base near Rogate, Katrina Littlechild and her thoroughbred gelding, Cognac, who share the same age at 22, will set out from John O’Groats to trek the gruelling 1,200 miles on bridleways and long-distance byways to Land’s End.

If everything is on schedule, Cognac will join Katrina at a B&B, with a paddock for him, near the start point today (Thursday June 28), having travelled north by horsebox over the past four days.
