GOLFERS have been back in action for the Midhurst and Petworth Rotary Club looking for the champion player of 2015.
They held their annual tournament to battle it out to see which member would be holding the coveted Rob Doney Shield for the next 12 months.
As usual members gathered at the Cowdray Park Gold Club for the annual tournament.
“We enjoyed reasonable weather by the standards of this August’s offerings with dry, cloudy conditions,” said Rotary sports officer Alan Austin, “and the greens a little slow for the time of year due to the recent heavy rain.”
The runaway winner with 42 points was Alan Robinson.
“It was fantastic result and he was a very worthy winner,” said Alan.
Roger Poat on 36 points came second in the tournament and Alan Austin and Alan Robinson both won prizes for getting nearest the pin.
It was the second time Rotary golfers had been in action for the club through the summer.
The annual charity golf day, also held at the Cowdray Golf Club raised well over £6,000.
The main beneficiaries were Alzheimer’s Research UK and Macmillan, Midhurst.
