Saturday switch-on for town's new Xmas lights

BEXHILL'S new £100,000 Christmas lighting system will be formally switched on at a ceremony on Saturday.

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon will turn on the lights at 3.30pm from the Library corner at the junction of Sackville Road and Western Road.

Contractors have been working to install the lights following Rother council's decision last month to go ahead with the scheme and bill it over three years to the special expenses charge paid by Bexhill residents in addition to their Council Tax charge. A 16,000 system for the front of the Town Hall is being paid for out of the district budget.
