Season starts for Bognor Regis local history society

Bognor Regis local history society will hold the first session of its new season at 7.30pm on September 14 at the Royal Norfolk Hotel.

The subject will be a talk about Canine Partners. This will be followed at the October meeting by a talk on the Selsey Tram. The society's meetings will all be on the second Monday of each month, rather than the third, to enable it to keep to the same day.

Kay Fall, the society's chairman, said the past two months since the last meeting had been hectic.

"We presented picture displays at Sands of Time, the Hotham Park country fair and Pagham on Parade," she explained. "We also helped at the illuminations gala where Mary Wheatland (a legendary lifesaver from Bognor) made an appearance. We even assisted with the town's history when Flog It was filmed in Bognor recently."

The society also opens Bognor's museum throughout the summer until almost the end of October. Volunteer stewards staff the High Street attraction from 10am until 4pm every Tuesday to Sunday.

The local history society has made digital copies of all its photographs and the group is keen to hear from anyone with local pictures from the past which it could copy and add to its collection.
