A WEST Wittering man has been appointed as a new non-executive director for South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb).
Al Rymer will initially serve a three-year term running until January 2018.
Mr Rymer said he was looking forward to assisting SECAmb in its ambitious programme of improving clinical performance and the development of trust staff.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining the trust board at a time when SECAmb has so much to offer in the provision and improvement of medical services for patients in the south east region.
“I have been very impressed by all I have seen so far of SECAmb’s operations, and by the levels of innovation and commitment throughout the trust.”
Mr Rymer completed a long and distinguished career in the Royal Navy in 2012.
Leaving as a rear admiral, he has since provided strategic management consultancy to UK and international clients.
He has gained board-level experience in the public sector, including partnerships with industry.
SECAmb chairman Tony Thorne, said: “I’m delighted that Al has joined the board and I believe he will make a strong contribution to SECAmb moving further forward.”
