Selsey's Asda could be constructed by Christmas, with a store opening later in 2017.

A representative for the development gave a brief update on the Manor Road site at a planning meeting last Wednesday.

Mr W Marsh presented Chichester District Council members with a formal application for a sign advertising retail units.

He said: “We hope to start commercial works in July. It will take until Christmas to complete and another couple of months to fit out.”

The plans approved in May 2015 include 139 houses, a hotel and a petrol station.
