Senlac Scouts

'SHOUTING for scouting,' had the desired affect on Saturday when crowds visited the De La Warr Pavilion lawn to learn more about the popular hobby.

Senlac District Scouts, including the Bexhill, Little Common and Ninfield groups, organised the event designed to promote the Scouts as part of the organisation's 100th birthday celebrations this year.

Visitors could try their hand at a variety of activities and ask questions about the movement.

Attractions included crafts and the scouting staple of outdoor cooking.

District leader Cliff Wilson said: "It seems to have gone really well. We are just trying to show people what scouting is an what is available in the area.

"I think the people who have come here have enjoyed themselves. Being our centenary year it is an ideal time to show people what we do.

"What we try and do is offer members the chance to fulfil their potential, and that goes for anyone, whether it is children or adults.

"It is something for us adults too. We enjoy it as much as the children '“ if we didn't we wouldn't do it.
