Seven injured in head-on smash near Camber

The collision took place near the Camber Road and Guldford Road junction at around 8.15pm.

Several people sustained serious, but non life-threatening, injuries.

PC Richard Brand from East Sussex Roads Policing Unit said: “This was a head-on collision resulting in many casualties but thankfully non of them have received life threatening injuries.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to please call 101 quoting serial 1760 of 23/7 or if you have any information that could assist with our enquiries.

“I would like to thank other drivers for their patience as the road was closed for around two and half hours whilst the casualties were attended to and highways cleared the debris and oil spillage.

“We are also grateful to our colleagues from Kent Police who assisted us in dealing with the incident.”

The Kia driver, a 17-year-old boy from Ashford, Kent, received a fractured leg and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital.

His three female passengers, all aged 17, and from Kent, were also taken to hospital - two with fractures and one with chest pains.

A 28-year-old woman from Camber who was driving the Land Rover was uninjured. Both of her passengers, a 59-year-old woman and 30-year-old woman, also from Camber, were taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with minor injuries.
