Shock over death of police inspector

A police inspector has been found dead at his home in Bognor Regis.

Andy Parr, 42, was found by his wife in the garden of their house.

His sudden death, which was discovered on the morning of May 21, has caused shock and disbelief across Sussex Police. It is not being treated as suspicious.

Chief Constable Martin Richards said: "It is with great sadness and regret I have to tell colleagues of the sudden and tragic death of Inspector Andy Parr.

"Andy was a popular and valued member of our team. My thoughts and condolences go to his family, as well as his many friends and colleagues."

The father-of-three had spent 18 years in a series of posts with Sussex Police. He joined the force in 1991 after working in the Metropolitan Police.

Chief Superintendent Graham Bartlett said: "Andy was a fantastic leader in Brighton and Hove. He was hugely popular and very effective.

"It is a sad and tragic loss for us all. People here are devastated and our thoughts are with his family."
