Free and flexible for all families, the challenge calls on children to read six books by Saturday September 17.

Every young reader who signs up will receive rewards for each book they tell library staff about – and those who read all six books will get a special Big Friendly Read medal and certificate.

There are even special limited edition cards featuring some of Dahl’s most popular characters, created in brand new illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake, up for grabs.

Last year more than 13,000 children took part over the school holidays.

The Big Friendly Summer Reading Challenge 2016 is produced by The Reading Agency.

Children can join at any point in the summer. For more information visit www.westsussex.gov.uk/libraries
