Sign up for social housing in Sidlesham

An opportunity to register for a new affordable housing development at Sidlesham on Thursday, July 14, has been announced by Chichester District Council.

Hastoe Housing Association is building the five homes at Hardy’s Garden, Keynor Lane, including one and two bedroom flats and three-bedroom houses.

“We are really pleased to announce this new development in Sidlesham,” said Cllr Janet Duncton, council cabinet member for housing and planning.

“Hardy’s Garden is an ‘exception site’, which means that to gain permission to build on the land, the housing must be affordable. It must also be developed to meet a local housing need in Sidlesham. The homes will be attractive, energy efficient and will be available for rent.”

A local connection registration event would take place at the Church Hall, in Church Farm Lane, on July 14. Council staff and Hastoe Housing Association representatives would be available between 3pm and 7pm to discuss the development.”

Priority would be given to households able to prove a local connection to the parish.

A local connection is defined as: a current Sidlesham resident (for at least 12 months); being permanently employed within Sidlesham (for at least 18 hours a week for at least 12 months); having a family member already living in Sidlesham (mother, father, brother, sister or children; for a minimum of five years); or a previous Sidlesham resident forced to move away due to a lack of affordable housing.

Evidence to support at least one of the local connections should be taken to the event.
