Southwick woman says "I do" on national television

AFTER a three-year courtship, a couple have got engaged '“ on a national television programme.

"H" Reeves and Amanda Solomon, who live in Meadway Court, Southwick, filmed their segment for Channel 5's Trisha Goddard chat show earlier this month.

The theme of the show was "extraordinary couples", with "H" and Amanda's part subtitled "Is this the ugliest man in Great Britain?".

Researchers from the show got in touch with 47-year-old "H" after seeing his face on a website.

"H" told the Herald: "They were asking a lot of questions about how I looked. They were looking for an angle.

"What they wanted to do was perhaps make it a bit of a tragic story. I have never seen it as a particularly tragic thing. I take it all in good fun and good jest."

"H" and Amanda managed to persuade the programme's bosses that their part should be a bit more fun and lighthearted.

"H" said: "We both agreed we would look at it as a bit of fun. I think the other parts were more serious, hard-hitting relationship stuff. I think we were really the sort of 'froth and bubbles' side of things."

The couple first got together on New Year's Eve three years ago, when Amanda was the prompt in an Adur Theatre Company production in which "H" was playing the lead role.
