Nicola Bird, manager at The Orchards, said: “Please come and do your bit for both the hospital and the town.

“It’s just a brilliant way to bring our whole community together and have a great deal of fun.”

Since 1852, when it opened with just ten beds, Great Ormond Street Hospital has been providing care for children from across the UK.

Nicola continued: “Everyone has been so generous in supporting this to make it a really memorable day and, more importantly, to play a part in providing care for future generations.

“It really is going to be a great day,” she added.
