Steve through to talent final

A place in the final of South Coast Idol has been clinched by Bognor Regis musician Steve Twinley.

Steve swept aside the opposition in one of the talent show's semi finals at Brighton with his performance of his song, The Elephant's Back.

Of the 18 hopefuls, only eight went through to the final at Concorde 2 club on the seafront. This will take place on April 20 at Concorde 2.

Success in the 15-strong final will see Steve take his place in the grand final at Portsmouth Guildhall in May.

Steve (23), of Merchant Street, said: 'It was a great night at the semi-final. There were possibly about 600 people there.

'Now I'm in the Sussex final I have to perform a different song. I am going through the ones I have written to find the best to sing solo.

'I'm also writing some new songs at the moment. So, I could sing one of those instead. It would be fantastic if I got through to the grand final in terms of exposure for me, the band and Bognor in general.'

Steve entered South Coast Idol as a solo artiste but usually performs his music with a band whose name, though not the spelling, has settled at Eyecontact.

They have their first Bognor gig in about three years at the Cheers music bar on Bognor seafront on Sunday afternoon.
