Hardy Sleepout participants arrive at Chichester Cathedral at 1pm on Saturday, October 10, and, armed with cardboard, will set about constructing their accommodation for the night.

During the day there will also be children’s activities, music and more which all begin at 11.30am in the grounds of the cathedral.

The Big Sleep Out 2015 is aimed at increasing awareness of the issues faced by homeless and vulnerable people across West Sussex.

This year the event takes place on World Homelessness Day and the aim and slogan of the day is ‘locals act locally on a global day’.

The emphasis is on giving hands-on aid that is sensitive to local needs, while being aware of the global problem of homelessness and feeling solidarity with other charity workers around the world.

Stonepillow chief executive Sylvie Johnston said: “Stonepillow’s annual sleep out just keeps getting bigger and more popular. We’re expecting 2015 to be the most successful, and the most fun, Big Sleep Out yet, thanks to sponsorship from Henry Adams and the support of all of those who are taking part.”

She continued: “Homelessness is a massive issue in Chichester and across West Sussex. The awareness and money raised through the Big Sleep Out is incredibly significant and will help us to help transform lives of homeless and vulnerable people for whom sleeping rough is a reality.”

Stonepillow hopes to raise around £10,000 to help continue the vital work they perform in the local community. It’s not too late to sign up and take part. Participants can register online at www.stonepillow.org.uk or call 01243 537934 for information.

A small registration fee covers refreshments, an evening BBQ and activities throughout the day.
