Still time to catch Players on stage

A sensitive, gentle comedy, with moments of genuine sadness, the play has been written by Bob Larby, best known for his TV sitcoms such as The Good Life and Ever Decreasing Circles.

Cooper (played by Ian Saxton) is an elderly gentlemen, facing up to growing old in a rest home. He struggles with a deteriorating body, whilst enduring the further distress of the dutiful, family visits from his unfeeling daughter and her hen-pecked husband on the first Sunday of each month.

His best friend is another resident, Aylott, (played by David Shortman), with whom Cooper learns to cope and find a way to make the best of what life has to offer. At times the humour is dark, even painful, and, although a comedy, the play is genuinely moving, taking its audience for an emotional journey, which saddens and elates in equal measure. Prepare for many laughs and, possibly, a few tears too.
