Taste of France is a big hit in Midhurst

THERE was a taste of France in Midhurst’s historic Market Square when hundreds of people flocked to the French market.

Steve Morley told fellow Midhurst town councillors it was a ‘resounding success’ and the biggest event to take place so far in the refurbished square.

Normandy traders set up their stalls, selling everything from fresh croissants and baguettes to regional cheeses, traditional sausages, paella and garlic prawns.

Other stalls offered jams, handbags, traditional French music, rugs and children’s toys.

Sophie Turley, nine, from Midhurst was crowned winner of the children’s competition.

She drew a picture of a French market and was presented with a basket of French goodies.

An Italian market has been organised for Saturday, September 6 and the weekly market is held on the square every Friday morning between 8.30am-1.30pm.
