Teenagers arrested following attempted arson in Chichester

Police have arrested two teenagers following an attempted arson attack at a block of Chichester flats.

Police were called to a block of flats in Charles Avenue just before 10.50pm on Tuesday (January 25) following an attempted arson there.

A bottle containing alcohol is believed to have been thrown in a ground floor corridor but failed to ignite. Nobody was injured.

A local boy, aged 17, and a local man, aged 18, were arrested nearby shortly afterwards on suspicion of attempted arson. Both were bailed until 24 February.

A Sussex Police spokesman said; “Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 10pm and 11.30pm on Tuesday night is asked to contact us on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Serial 1566 of January 25.”
