Thousands raised in Tillington for Petworth youth centre

TILLINGTON has maintained its reputation for well-organised events.

At a car boot sale held by All Hallows Church in aid of the Sylvia Beaufoy Youth Centre, the projected profit was £500 – but the event made more than £3,250.

Hundreds went along from all over West Sussex and money came from the sale of pitches, while some people donated half or all of their pitch proceeds.

One Tillington stall decided to donate all of its takings to the youth centre.

Resident Gerald Gresham Cooke said: “Six months ago we planned for 40 stalls – on the evening before, we sold our 40th. Extraordinarily good planning!

“Three more also turned up on the morning.”
