TRADERS and members of the public in Midhurst are being urged to give their support to an ambitious and innovative scheme to bring free WiFi to the town.
The scheme was led by the community group Midhurst Together and is operated by Toby Hooton and Alex Mills of Open Air Comms who launched a similar scheme in Chichester at the end of last year.

But time is running out to put Midhurst on the superconnected Sussex roadmap by the planned April launch date.
The aim is to boost trade in the town by giving free WiFi to shoppers and visitors who could connect on the streets of Midhurst simply by turning on their phones and entering their email addresses when asked.
The free package is unique in that it also gives traders digital advertising space which can be changed in an instant.
“We can’t solve the mobile phone signal problem in Midhurst, but we can give people free internet on their phones and connect them to local shops,” said Toby.
But he said Open Air Comms was looking for commitment and support from traders otherwise the company could not go ahead.
“At the moment, we are in a bat and ball situation with Midhurst Together, local people and ourselves trying to gain support and momentum for the project which would see Midhurst join the ‘Superconnected Sussex roadmap’.
“While this is a tight deadline, it is still very achievable. We just need support. Without this support, unfortunately the project can never go anywhere which would be a massive shame.”
