Tools worth £4,000 stolen from Fernhurst

Heartless thieves have stolen £4,000 worth of tools belonging to a charity, from a Land Rover in Fernhurst.

Rob Free, Weald Reserves Manager for the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation charity said the tools were taken from the vehicle parked outside his home in the early hours of Monday, November 28.

“It was rather heartbreaking someone would steal from a charity. The tools cost almost £4,000 new and our insurance will only pay a fraction of this if anything,” he said.

Four nearly new chainsaws, a brushcutter and a strimmer were stolen.

Rob added: “The police officer who came out, believed thieves specialising in stealing forestry power tools was involved.”

He warned people in the Fernhurst area to be vigilant and also to look out for people offering cheap second-hand power tools without receipts or maintenance logs.
