Top chef cooks at event

Sensational celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli will be the special guest at Hastings Borough Council’s Seafood and Wine Festival in September.

AA Rosette and Michelin award winning Novelli has been dubbed ‘the nations favourite French chef’.

He opened his first restaurant, Maison Novelli in Clerkenwell, London quickly followed by four others and over his career he has accumulated four Michelin Stars.

Keen to pass on his extensive knowledge and skill, Jean-Christophe opened his own cookery school, The Novelli Academy and within three months it was voted amongst the ‘Top 25 Cookery Schools in the World’.

He is also a well-known TV chef having appeared on a wide variety of the UK’s most popular cookery programmes and prime TV shows.

The council’s lead member for marketing, Cllr Kim Forward said: “We are very excited to announce that Jean-Christophe Novelli will be appearing at the annual Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival on Saturday and Sunday 19 and 20 September.

“He will be delivering six cooking demonstrations using local fish over the two days with Q&A sessions to follow.

“Tickets for each demonstration are available from the Hastings Tourist Information Centre and cost £5 each £2 for under 18’s.

The ticket price includes the one hour demo and Q&A session plus a free entry wristband for the whole festival weekend, a festival glass and cookery book.

“This is a real treat for visitors to the festival. Tickets for the six demonstrations will sell out very quickly so be sure to get yours early.”

The Festival attracts thousands of visitors each year and has helped put the town on the nation’s food map.

It showcases local restaurants and producers and helps promote the Hastings fishing industry.

There will be a bar selling locally brewed ales and a full line-up of musical entertainment over the two days.
