Driver ‘sped off’ after car collides with woman near Horsham Railway Station

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses after the 33-year-old pedestrian was injured in the incident at around 11.10pm.

The woman was crossing North Street from Horsham Park towards the railway station when the car, which police described as a ‘blue old-style hatchback’, emerged from the taxi rank.

It collided with the woman, causing her to roll onto its bonnet before she fell to the ground.

Police said the car stopped briefly, but then ‘sped off’. The car and driver have not been traced.

The woman was treated at the scene by police and paramedics before being taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. She suffered a fractured thigh bone, police said.

The car’s registration number was not taken. It is thought there was only the driver inside, and he is described as white with curly light-coloured hair.
