Woman rushed to hospital after fire at village home

Firefighters were called to the property in Ostlers view, Billingshurst, at 5.50pm.

The fire service said a small fire broke out in the kitchen of the home. It had been extinguished when crews arrived and no action was taken.

Paramedics also attended along with the Air Ambulance, which landed in a nearby field.

A woman was treated at the scene for head and chest injuries before being taken to hospital for further checks.

The fire is being treated as an accident.
