Trustees are sought for leisure trust

FROM April next year, Worthing Leisure, which runs Worthing Borough Council’s leisure services, will be known as South Downs Leisure Trust.

As Worthing Leisure has done, the new trust will run the services at the town’s Worthing Leisure Centre, Davison Leisure Centre, Splashpoint Leisure Centre and Field Place.

It is hoped the transition will bring benefits, including significant tax rebates, driving more money back into the business and benefiting both the local community and in-house facilities.

The trust is now seeking 12 trustees. Not only committed to promoting leisure in Worthing, the trustees must have specialist skills in areas such as finance, legal, marketing and human resources. Each individual skill-set must also be accompanied with key communication skills and an ability to work with everyone.

Worthing Borough Council leader Paul Yallop said: “We’ve had a fantastic response from potential trustees, with interest coming from all areas of the community. Many applicants displayed the qualities needed to take South Downs Leisure forward, so future generations can continue to benefit from, and enjoy, being fit and healthy.”
