THERE was a special reason to celebrate when members of Midhurst U3A held their annual garden party.

For this year marks the 20th anniversary of the formation of the group and members turned out in force to make the birthday celebrations go with a swing.

More than 80 people gathered at Capron House and spilled into the garden on a warm summer evening.

They were treated to sunshine, entertainment and food and wine.

Eighty-five members and guests listened to music provided by Reg Thorp before the special birthday cake was cut.

The honours were performed by four founder members of Midhurst U3A – Nancy Sawyer, Donald and Margaret Wilson and Pam Hayton.

Then Bernard Allan, chairman of the Midhurst U3A group, recalled some of the highlights from the past two decades.

He talked about all the activities currently carried out and invited members to raise their glasses and toast the future.

Midhurst U3A has a very active programme of talks, trips and interest groups.

New members are always welcome. For further details visit or contact Carole Allan on 01730 813374.
