Two people taken to hospital following Chichester canal crash

Two people were taken to hospital last night after their car went into the canal.

The incident took place at the end of South Bank in Chichester at about 5.30pm yesterday (Sunday January 26).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 5.48pm

They were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to St Richard's Hospital.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "I can confirm we were called to reports of a car in the water at South Bank, Chichester, at approximately 5.50pm yesterday (Sunday 26 January). Ambulance crews attended the scene.

"Two people, who were rescued from the water, were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester for further checks. They were not thought to have serious injuries."
