“The driver of the Skoda, a 34-year-old Pulborough woman, sustained serious pelvic injuries and cuts.

“A two-year-old girl, a passenger in the Nissan, which was being driven by her father, a 26-year-old man from Bognor Regis, suffered a serious leg injury.

“Both casualties were taken by ambulance to St George’s Hospital, Tooting Bec, London, where they have been detained for treatment. Both are in a stable condition.”

The child’s father also went to the same hospital with what police described as ‘whiplash-style’ injuries but was not kept in hospital.
