PARISH COUNCIL: At last week's meeting it wasn't possible, after all, to discuss various proposed schemes to reduce the impact of road traffic on our village, because further information hadn't yet been received from the County Council. It's to be hoped that this important subject will be discussed at the Council's next meeting, on November 21. Please make a note of the date.

CHURCH SERVICE: Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8am this Sunday in St Mary’s.

MESSY CHURCH: On Tuesday (October 2) from 4pm till 6pm in the Hall, there will be a St Francis of Assisi Activity Session. As usual, materials, food and drinks will be provided.

AN EVENING OF MUSIC: Next Saturday evening (not Sunday as I wrongly stated last week) October 6, the Concert in St Mary’s Church will start at 7pm, ending at about 9pm. Arranged by the Friends of St Mary’s, this should be a lovely occasion, the first concert in our church for several years. Taking part in an attractive and varied programme will be: Duncan Reid (organ), Bradley and Elizabeth Curtis (violin, ‘cello and piano), Grace Constable (soprano) and Gary Marriott (tenor). For tickets, please ring Sue Rowan (01424 882681) or Liz Turgoose (01424 882657): the £10 price includes a drink and canapés.

HARVEST CELEBRATIONS: The Harvest Festival service in St Mary’s will be at 9.30am on Sunday, October 7, followed by the Harvest Supper in the Hall on Friday evening, October 12.
