UPDATE: 15 firefighters on the scene of Funtington crash

Two people were extricated from vehicles involved in the B2146 this afternoon (August 14), the fire service said.

One person is confirmed to have died in the accident between Funtington and East Ashling at 2.26pm. Two others have been taken to hospital.

There is a road block in place with drivers being urged to look for alternative routes.

Two fire vehicles from Chichester were at the scene, as well as one from Emsworth.

“One person was extricated using the heavy rescue tender,” said a West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman.

“I believe a further two people were taken to hospital by ambulance and one further got out themselves.”

Firefighters were at the scene from 2.30pm-3.12pm.

As reported, police are still at the scene now and confirmed the accident was caused by a car colliding with a parked goods vehicle.
