UPDATE: A27 is now open in both directions after fatal accident

THE A27 between Chichester and Emsworth is now open in both directions after a fatal accident this morning (January 22).

The collision involved a pedestrian and a lorry at 7.25am. The male pedestrian, a 45-year-old man from the Portsmouth area, died at the scene.

The lorry driver, a 38-year-old Bristol man, was unhurt but shaken.

Police have reopened the road after closing it in both directions this morning, as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The westbound carriage was opened first, and the eastbound carriage, where the incident occurred is now open.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident. Call them on 101 quoting Operation Kirkcaldy if you have any information.
