UPDATE: Arrest made after fatal A29 crash

A TOURIST has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist from Billingshurst was killed on the A29 in Bury on Sunday (August 24).

The 20-year-old motorcyclist, who was riding a Honda VFR 800F motorcycle, suffered fatal injuries when he hit a car at around 4.30pm outside the Squire and Horse pub.

He had been travelling south in the company of another motorcyclist, also 20, from Fernhurst, Haslemere, in Surrey – riding a Kawasaki ZXR400 – who was unhurt.

The car was a Volvo V40 hatchback driven by a 69-year-old man on holiday in the UK from his home in Bermuda.

He suffered shock, and his passenger, a 64-year-old woman also from Bermuda, sustained a broken collar bone, whiplash and shock.

Both were taken to St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, for treatment.

The 69-year-old car driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, police announced today (Tuesday, August 26).
