UPDATE: Man taken to hospital after car and motorbike collide in Chichester

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene of the crash in Market Road, Chichester around 4.30pm yesterday (September 16).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the motorcyclist was taken to St Richard’s Hospital for treatment.

“At 4.30pm on Wednesday (September 16) police were called to Market Street, Chichester, where a car and a motorcycle had collided,” said a spokesman.

“A 65-year-old man from Middleton-on-Sea riding the blue Honda CB600 motorcycle sustained minor injuries.

“He was taken by ambulance to St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, but allowed home after treatment.

“The car involved, a pink Vauxhall Corsa, was driven by a 51-year-old woman from Barnham.

“She was unhurt.

“Market Road was temporarily closed to traffic while the incident was dealt with.”

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Bognor and Chichester were called to the incident at 4.30pm and had left by 5pm.

“One adult male was released by the fire service,” said a spokesman.

“Fire crews made the scene and vehicles safe before handing the incident over to Sussex Police.”

The incident led to lengthy traffic delays in both directions along the A286 Market Road, between the Basin Road junction and the A259 The Hornet junction.
