THE pedestrian who died when he was struck by a car near Midhurst has now been named as Stephen Crouch, 60, of Well Lane, Midhurst.
Police said Mr Crouch had been walking his dogs when he was hit by the car.
The collision happened at 5.30pm on Saturday, February 7, at the junction of the A286 and Oaklands Lane, just south of Midhurst.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
A police spokesman said: “A blue Peugeot 307 car, travelling north, was in collision with Mr Crouch, who was walking with two dogs. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”
“Neither the car driver, a man aged 25, nor his front seat passenger, a woman aged 24, and both from Wisborough Green, were hurt.”
The car driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been released on bail until April 19 while enquiries continue.
