UPDATE: Motorcyclist suffers serious head and back injuries in Rogate crash


SUSSEX Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman motorcyclist suffered serious injuries when her bike left the A272 at Rogate.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Saturday (March 7) at 4.30pm after the motorbike left the A272 at Rogate.

A police spokesman said: “A 35-year-old woman motorcyclist suffered serious head and back injuries after her bike left the road and crashed into a field beside the A272 at Rogate, near Petersfield, on Saturday afternoon.”

The woman, from Reading in Berkshire, had been riding a red Honda CBR600 in company with another motorcyclist who was some way ahead when the incident occurred 300 metres west of the Parsonage Estate, Rogate, shortly before 4pm.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance was called in and the woman was airlifted to St George’s Hospital, London, where she has been detained for treatment.

No other vehicle was involved.
